Tyler Shewbert’s Syncretic Stoicism: Overlooked Grace

I have found grace and peace in working with alcoholics and addicts in rehabilitation centers and jails, trying to guide them on the path to sobriety. Often these groups of people are overlooked, even by those in NA and AA, and often treated as hopeless cases. This is not easy task, and it is humbling because the power of addiction and the lure of criminality are tough combatants. However, the work is rewarding, and I have found peace and grace through that work, and also an awareness of some of the universal fears and dreams that bind us all.
