Sanctuary (Grandma’s Punch)

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz of Dubonnet Rouge
  • 0.75 Amer Picon
  • 0.75 Cointreau

Preparation: Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a lemon twist.

Note: Amer Picon is not longer available in the United States, so if you can find a bottle, it will be a true classic cocktail. A favorite of the Basque people.

New Yorker

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz rye or bourbon
  • 0.75 oz fresh lemon or lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar
  • splash of grenadine

Preparation:

  • Stir all ingredients for at least thirty second in ice. Strain into chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a lemon twist.

Careful with the grenadine!

Flying Scotsman

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Scotch
  • 1.5 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • 0.25 Teaspoon Powdered Sugar
  • 1 Dash of Angostura Bitters

Preparation: Stir all ingredients for at least 30 seconds on ice. Strain over one cube in a chilled rocks glass.

Ward 8

  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • Slice of orange, muddled
  • Sprig of mint, muddled
  • Barspoon of powdered sugar
  • Shot of rye whiskey
  • Two large cubes
  • Splash of grenadine 

Muddle mint and the slice of orange in a chilled beer glass. Add two large ice cubes, splash of grenadine and top off with soda. Stir slightly to ensure mixture but not enough to increase carbonation. Garnish with orange and maraschino cherry.
